Effective
July 2005 all stock previously carried in Central Stores was discontinued in
favor of agency or statewide contracts.
Central Stores sole remaining function is the operation of the Fueling
Station is located on Plant Drive
near the water tower. It is an
unmanned, automated facility that is generally available twenty-four (24)
hours per day, seven (7) days per week.
Service Station (Fuel) Operations:
This
facility is open to authorized users seven days a week, 24 hours per
day. It offers both diesel and
unleaded gasoline.
User
Operation: Access to the system
is via a special data “Gasboy key”
assigned to each vehicle. In
order to fuel a vehicle, it is necessary to have this key and additional
information including personal identification number (PIN) and odometer
reading. The Gasboy key is assigned to the vehicle while the PIN is
assigned to an individual.
Each vehicle must be entered into the system by Central Stores. Each newly received vehicle has a Gasboy key issued along with the vehicle keys. Replacement Gasboy
key blanks can be obtained from Physical Plant Lock Shop. The key is then taken Central Stores
(currently located in Bldg 416 on Plant Drive)
to have the key coded. There is a
charge for the key blank.
Access: Access to the fueling station is by
means of the Gasboy key along with a PIN
number. Each Department Head is
responsible for completing and submitting an “Authorized Fuel
Access” form to Central Stores to obtain a PIN number for their
employees permitted access to the fuel system. Likewise, when an employee terminates
employment, the Department Head should forward a memo asking to remove that persons name.

Wright Express (Fuel Card) Operations:
In
March of 2004 the University started issuing Wright Express fuel cards. These
cards are unique to a particular University vehicle and NOT an individual.
These cards may be used at participating stations to purchase fuel,
automotive supplies and minor maintenance. The advantage of using the Wright
Express card instead of other credit cards (personal credit cards, corporate
American Express) is that the Wright Express card automatically deducts taxes
for which the University is exempt thus providing automatic savings. In order
to use the Wright Express card, the individual operator must have a Personal
Identification Number (PIN) number assigned. The Fuel Authorization Form on
our web page may be used to request a PIN. Persons or departments desiring
additional information on the Wright Express card may contact Central Stores
for details.
Currently the Wright Express card is to be used only secondary to the on
campus fueling station. Its primary use is for out of town travel or during
periods when the fueling station is inoperable.
