Strategic Planning Council

The Strategic Planning Council is composed of:

1 Staff from Academic Affairs1 Faculty from Faculty Senate
2 Staff from Other Divisions1 Apprentice Faculty (from Faculty Senate)
 in alternating years
1 Student from Student Government Association1 Student from Graduate Student Organization
1 Director, Strategic Research and Analysis, ex-officio

Terms are three years, beginning on August 1.

   Specific responsibilities of the Strategic Planning Council include:

  • Function as a two-way conduit for information, relating the general campus community
    to the strategic planning process, especially addressing the Faculty Senate through its elected
    representative(s) to the SPC.
  • Meet annually with the President's Cabinet for the purposes of affirming the Assumptions for Planning
    reviewing the progress toward meeting the Goals of the University; and advising the president
    on institutional goals for the next planning cycle.
  • On request of the President's Cabinet or President: collect information, clarify and articulate strategic issues,
    consider alternatives, and suggest strategies for dealing with those issues.
  • Through its own initiative, identify and provide advice to the President's Cabinet on strategic issues.
  • Review and recommend revisions to the University's Mission Statement as necessary, but
    not less than once every five years.
  •    The president and each vice president will regularly brief the SPC regarding their respective current programs and planned programs. The SPC may request briefings from other campus representatives as considered necessary.
