Opening Attachments

If you receive a message with an attachment, the file will be shown at the top of the message next to a paperclip. You can open the attachment with the program associated with that file type (i.e. open an Excel spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel) or you can open the attachment within the GroupWise message box using the GroupWise Viewer. Opening with the associated program will take longer but gives you the full capability of the program. Opening with the view is best if you want a quick view of the attachment. Here is how to do each option-

Next to the attached file, you will be presented with two options-

1. View- Opens the attachment in the message box using the GroupWise Viewer.

2. Save As - Gives you the option to save the file to your computer. Use this if the attachment is something that you will want to keep.

Saving Attachments - Important!

GroupWise handles attachments differently from Eudora, Outlook and other e-mail programs that you may be accustomed to using. Eudora saves all attachments to one folder on your computer's hard drive. GroupWise saves attachments along with the message. If you want to keep a copy of an attachment, be sure to save it to the folder of your choice on your computer. If you do not save an attachment but open and make changes to it, the next time that you open the attachment it will revert to the original state. So just be sure to save an attachment if it is something that you will need.
