2 - How To Use The GroupWise Address Book
The Address Book is one of the best features of GroupWise. All GroupWise
account holders at Georgia Southern are listed here so sending e-mail
to your colleagues is quick and easy. There are four default address books
that are installed with your GroupWise account.
Four Default Address Books
- Novell GroupWise Address Book - this contains the
GroupWise addresses of all Georgia Southern account holders. Most faculty
and staff will have GroupWise accounts by June of 2004; students are
not listed here because they do not have GroupWise accounts. You cannot
make changes to this address book; changes can only be made by system
administrators.
- Novell LDAP Address Book - we are not using this
address book at Georgia Southern at this time.
- Frequent Contacts - lists contacts who you have emailed
in the past.
- Your Own Name - This Address Book shows contacts
that you have created.
Note that if you click on or hover your mouse over a name listed in your
address book, the person's contact information will be shown.
How To Add A Contact
- Click on the Address Book icon from your GroupWise toolbar.
- You will see your address books listed on the left panel.
- Click on the Address Book with your name to highlight it.
- Click on New.
- You will given the option of 4 different entry types: Contact,
Group, Resource or Organization. Choose Contact
to enter an individuals contact information.
- In the New Contact window, you can enter the person's name,
e-mail address and other contact information.
- Click OK and that person will be listed in your Address Book.
How To Create An Additional Address Book
Professors may want to have an address book for all the students that
they advise; staff members may want to have an address book just for vendors.
Here is how to create an additional address book.
- Click on the Address Book icon from your GroupWise toolbar.
- Choose File, then New Book.
- Next to Create Address Book:, give the new address book a
name.
- You new address book will be listed on the left panel.
Sharing Address Books
You can share an address books with other Georgia Southern account holders.
Right click on the Address Book that you want to share and choose Sharing.
Type in the name of the person that you want to share the Address Book
with and choose if you want to give the person Read Only rights or the
ability to Read and Write to the shared address book.
