GroupWise Training Module 10 - Using Another E-mail Client to Access Your GroupWise AccountGeorgia Southern staff members are required to use GroupWise software for e-mail and calendaring. If staff members want to access their e-mail while away from their office, we encourage you to use GroupWise on the web. For instructions on this, see Web Module 16 - Assessing GroupWise Using Your Web Browser. If a staff member prefers to use other e-mail software while at home, this can set up using the instructions below. We do not have a license to install GroupWise on personal (non-Georgia Southern) computers. Georgia Southern faculty are encouraged to use GroupWise software. All faculty member will be given GroupWise accounts. If a faculty member decides to use another e-mail software package, IT Services will assist in setting this up but we will not support the use of other software beyond setting this up. So if a faculty member decides to use another product, s/he is on her/his own. Scenario One: Staff/faculty use GroupWise software at the office and Eudora at home A Georgia Southern technician will set up the GroupWise at the office, here are the settings for your home computer. 1. Open Eudora and choose Tools then Options. Under the Category Getting Started, use groupwise.georgiasouthern.edu for Mail Server Incoming. Your screen should match this (except using your name instead of John Doe's!) If you are off-campus, using an external Internet Service Provider (ISP) to access your Georgia Southern e-mail, you will leave the Outgoing Server (or SMTP) server name specified by your ISP. Here are ones that are often used by the Georgia Southern community-
2. Click on the Category Incoming Mail and make your setting match these. You will be able to retrieve messages from the past 30 days from home. You will still get all messages at your office computer.
Scenario Two: Faculty use Eudora software at the office 1. Open Eudora and choose Tools then Options. Under the Category Getting Started, use groupwise.georgiasouthern.edu for Mail Server Incoming. Your screen should match this (except using your name instead of John Doe's!) 2. Click on the Category Incoming Mail and make your setting match these. Your messages will be downloaded to your office computer and deleted from the server.
Scenario Three: Faculty use Eudora software at the office and Eudora at home Follow the instructions for both Scenario One (at home) and Scenario Two (at work). You will be able to retrieve new messages from home. You will still get all messages at your office computer.
