IT Policies

The use of any Georgia Southern University computer related resource is subject to all provisions of the policies and procedures published at the sites listed below. If you are a faculty member, a student or a member of the University staff, it is your responsibility as a user of information technology to read these policies and abide by them.

Computer Use Policy (PDF)
The Computer Use Policy has been developed as a complement to relevant laws and policies to define acceptable and unacceptable computer use practices, to promote an understanding of responsible usage of University computing resources, and to protect and conserve those computing resources.

Security Standards and Procedures (PDF)
All authorized users have an interest in the security and stability of the computer resources at Georgia Southern University, and share in the responsibility for protection of those resources, prevention of problems, and incident detection and response. Users must take responsibility for securing their own resources, engage in practices to maintain a secure and stable environment, and respond appropriately to threats against those resources as described in this and related documents.

Incident Response Procedures (posted September 10, 2002)
The purpose of this document is to describe the general procedures that will be followed in response to a security incident involving University resources. Cooperation of personnel with these procedures is mandatory.
