- ADMINISTRATIVE/MANAGEMENT STAFF-

Under the direction of the Director of Health Services, the Administrative/Management Team provides overall administration and management of Health Services operations including clinical services, nursing services, clerical services, and health education & health promotion services.

- PAUL A. FERGUSON -

BA, MA, Director of Health Services

Mr. Ferguson has over 25 years of private practice and college health administrative experience, including the management of Health Services at the University of Delaware and Auburn University. His college health experience includes overseeing the successful accreditation of a number of university health centers. Prior to joining the Health Services Management Team at Georgia Southern University, Mr. Ferguson served as a full-time consultant for iLIANT Corporation; a Tampa Florida based medical group practice management company. He received a BA degree from Monmouth University, NJ, and an MA degree from the University of Delaware, Newark, DE.

- BRIAN M. DELOACH -

BS, MD, AAFP, Chief of Medical Staff & Staff Physician

Dr. DeLoach is a well trained, experienced, board certified Family Practice Physician with significant private group practice and hospital practice experience. Before joining the Health Services staff Dr. DeLoach practiced as a Staff Physician for five years in the Bohler Family Practice in nearby Brooklet, GA. His experience includes serving as the Chairman of the Family Practice Department at East Georgia Regional Medical Center (EGRMC). Dr. DeLoach also serves as a member of EGRMC Board of Trustees. Dr. DeLoach received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Georgia and his Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia.

- CAROL H. TURKNETT -

BSN, RN, Head Nurse

Ms. Turknett is a well-trained Registered Nurse (RN) whose experience provides Health Services the important clinical oversight and supervision functions required of the position. She received her BS in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia in 1982. Her experience includes serving as a Practical Nursing Instructor at Ogeechee Technical College, Statesboro, GA, a position as a School Nurse for the Bulloch County, GA Board of Education, and working as an Emergency Room Staff Nurse at the Bulloch Memorial Hospital, Statesboro, GA. Ms. Turknett joined the Georgia Southern Health Services staff in 2004.

- TAMMY HOWARD -

Section Supervisor, Medical Office/Records/Immunization Compliance

Ms. Howard joined the Health Services Clerical Staff in 1998 as a Medical Records Clerk. She currently serves as the Section Supervisor of the Clerical Team, which includes supervision of the Medical Reception area, Main Office, and Cashier area, Medical Records area, and Immunization Compliance Office.

- LA'SHANDA JOHNSON -

BSHS, MPH, Assistant Director of Health Education & Promotion

Ms. Johnson received her BS in Health Science in 2004 from Georgia Southern University. She also earned a Masters in Public Health with an emphasis in Community Health from Georgia Southern University in 2006. Ms. Johnson is responsible for presenting health topics to the campus and the community. She coordinates health related programs and events for the University. She has planned programs such as the Chris Sandy Lecture, campus-wide HIV testing, Abstinence Week and National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week. She also oversees the HIV testing and counseling at Health Services. Ms. Johnson supervises student assistants, graduate assistants, and volunteers. She also attends, plans, and evaluates all information tables, programs and presentations.
