Water storage facilities and tempering valves shall be utilized at the above temperatures dependent upon capacity of facility. |
Drains |
Restrooms, custodial equipment and mop sink rooms, and mechanical rooms shall have floor drains with the floor sloped toward the drain. Trap primers shall be installed on all floor drains. |
Sewage Lift Stations |

Flush Valves |
Automatic, battery powered flush valves are preferred in public restrooms. Preferred Mfg.: Sloan Royal, Sloan Regal or Zurn |

Faucets |
Restroom and laboratory faucets shall be all brass construction with replaceable brass valve control units. Preferred Mfg.: Chicago, T & S, or equal |
Valves |
Each facility shall have a single shut-off valve on the domestic water supply. Restrooms shall have valves on the hot and cold water supplies to each fixture so that the unit can be shut-off without disrupting the entire building water service. Each zone or floor of a facility shall have shut-off valves on hot and cold water supply lines for maintenance of the facility. Preferred Mfg.: (Manufactured in U.S.A, no imports): NIBCO, Crane, Stockham or Hammond |

Adequate space will be provided around every backflow preventer to permit testing and repair by maintenance personnel. Backflow preventers in mechanical rooms will be close to the floor. A minimum of twelve inches is required. Backflow preventers will be installed in such a manner as to permit testing without shutting down water to the facility. Where possible, the use of two smaller backflow preventer assemblies rather than one large one on incoming lines is suggested. All backflow preventers will be tested and certified prior to turn over the Georgia Southern University. Devices should be selected based upon the "Manual of Cross- Connection Control" by the Foundation for Cross-Connection Control and Hydraulic Research, University of Southern California, and the EPA's Cross-Connection Manual. Also, see Site Work (Backflow Preventer). |
