Georgia Southern University has an established campus wide energy management system. Because no two manufactured control systems are compatible to, communicate with or interface with each another; one specific system, Johnson Controls Metasys System, has been selected to be used in our facilities. The control system is tied into a centralized command center at Physical Plant. Each building shall have a Network Control Unit (NCU) which provides the building control system with the capability for connection to the campus fiber optic network or dial up communications network. The system shall be provided with and include all necessary software and hardware to connect it to and make it fully operational with the existing Johnson Controls Metasys command center. If a manufacturer other than Johnson Controls is selected, the contractor shall prove without any doubt the alternate control system interface can be achieved. Proof will include at least two other installations where such an interface has been installed and proven to be successful for a period of at least two years. The control system shall reset building temperatures according to outside air temperature for the chiller and boiler or staged modular boilers. The control system shall start/stop the hot water and chilled water pumps on a daily schedule and shall control the temperature and operation of the air handlers and/or variable frequency drives through DDC controllers. The Metasys Control System consist of stand alone DDC unit all microprocessor based, multi-tasking, multi-user, real-time digital control processors. |
