Toilet Compartments

Solid plastic partitions with slide latch type locking mechanism and with pre-positioning hinge unit. The hinge unit shall be metal. Where integral hinges are used, top and bottom pivot pins shall be stainless steel or nylon reinforced with 1/4 inch diameter stainless steel pin; plastic or nylon pins are not acceptable. Coat hook should be on the side of the partition, not on the door.

Ceiling hung and braced are preferred. If floor ounted partitions are used, they shall be overhead braced.

Preferred Mfg.: Santana, Capital Partitions or equivalent.

 
Restroom Countertops 

Countertops in the restroom shall be a non-corrosive, waterproof polymer resin compounded under high pressure to form a single component, such as Corian, as manufactured by DuPont or equivalent.

Plastic laminate is not an acceptable product.

Countertops shall be supported on both ends with steel framing where necessary to properly support the surface. Lavatory bowls integral with the countertop are preferred.

 
Restroom Accessories 

All design for accessories must be capable of accepting supplies purchased by Georgia State Procurement 'State Contract'.

Sanitary napkin and toilet seat cover dispensers are not used at Georgia Southern. However, sanitary napkin disposal units shall be provided.

Soap dispensers shall be capable of accommodating liquid soap, They will be mounted above the counters so that they are easily refillable. Do not use "in counter" soap dispensers.

 
Interior Signage

All interior spaces shall be designated with, as a minimum, the room or space number associated with the area. Rooms may also have additional identifying designations as per the Georgia Southern Signage Manual.

The design of interior signage shall comply with the Georgia Southern Signage Manual (Appendix C). This may be also obtained from the Facilities Planning, Design and Construction Office.

 
Room Numbers 
Non-Resident Rooms
Room numbers shall be mounted on the adjacent wall to the door handle. The signs will display the room number and its intended use.
Resident Rooms
Room numbers shall be mounted on the adjacent wall to the door handle displaying the room number and its intended use. On the interior side of the door a Fire Evacuation Plan will be mounted.
Fire Evacuation Plan
A fire evacuation plan and a path of exit shall be mounted at each fire pull station and on the interior side of each resident's hall room door. The plan will indicate a 'You Are Here' arrow and noting locations of emergency fire pull stations and exits.

Building Directory

Each facility shall have a building directory indicating Department names and their respective location. In some cases this will indicate individual's names. The directory shall be installed in the main building entrance or lobby area. The University shall identify Schools and or Departments to be listed in directory. Directories shall be constructed in such a manner as to be easily revised.
