the heightened concerns regarding security, it is important that
you understand the measures the University is taking to safeguard
the campus community. Please feel free to share this information
with students and/or parents.
Due to the current “Code Orange” alert, the following

Georgia Information Sharing and Analysis Center (GISAC). This
is a part of the nationwide Homeland Security effort.
- Georgia Southern Public Safety receives regular intelligence
bulletins from the FBI as well as the Georgia Office of Homeland
Security.
- Georgia Southern Public Safety is in continuous contact with
both City of Statesboro and Bulloch County law enforcement. In
addition, there are open lines with Bulloch Central, the communications
center for the county.
- University Police have increased the number and frequency of
walking patrols in residence halls.
- There are increased walking patrols of other potential target
areas including
– instructional laboratories
– chemical storage areas
– water storage facilities
– sports venues
– HVAC plants.
If there is a “Code Red” alert, the following measures
will be taken:
- University Police will begin 12-hour shifts.
- UP coverage will increase to 12-15 officers on duty at all
times.
- Information will be immediately disseminated to all senior
administrators so that appropriate decisions can be made.
