EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Georgia Southern University takes safety seriously and understands the role of our campus in the nation’s Homeland Security preparedness. Our first priority is to assure rapid response, safe shelter, and broad communication of accurate information for our students, faculty, and staff in the event of a local or national emergency. This is especially important for students and parents.

The University community should be aware of the campus-wide security emergency alert system, (described in the box) which reaches every area and building with a siren warning and public address announcements. Supplementing this widespread and immediate notification of an emergency, information will be broadcast through the Web, Radio, Television, and Message Boards.
Weather warnings will be signaled by tornado sirens.

The University is also taking measures to increase vigilance during national Code Orange and Code Red threat alerts.
