Spiritual Scavenger Hunt: Discover the Wonder of Nature

When: Sunday, Feb. 26 3-4pm
Where: GSU Wildlife Center
Practice your spiritual wellness by exploring your surroundings. In this program you will participate in several meditative and reflective activities all while the birds sing and the wind blows against you.


Yoga

When: Sunday, Feb. 26 7pm
Where: RAC Multi-Purpose Room
This yoga class will emphasize meditation as you practice poses that flow to one another.


Body Image Survey

When: Monday, Feb. 27 4-6pm; Tuesday, Feb. 28 3-5pm
Where: RAC Lobby
Participate in the survey to see if you think everyBODY is beautiful. Complete a survey to “make your own trail mix” upon your exit.


Fitness Assessment

When: Monday-Thursday 2-6pm
Where: RAC Wellness Center
Learn your strengths and weaknesses as it relates to your fitness level. This is the first step to creating an efficient and effective exercise program. Appointments are encouraged and can be made in the Wellness Center on the 2nd floor of the RAC.


Unplugged

When: Tuesday, Feb. 28 7pm
Where: Starbucks @ Russell Union
Come to this coffeehouse series sponsored by Eagle Entertainment. Here you can practice your talents at an open mic. FREE Starbucks coffee for all who attend.


Spring Break Awareness Table

When: Monday, Feb. 27 12-2pm

Texting/DUI Simulator

Sustainable Solutions Exhibit

When: Tuesday, Feb. 28 9am-5pm
Where: GSU Museum
Simply put, environmental sustainability ensures that the earth's natural resources will still be available for future generations. Through interactive explorations of water, energy, waste, biodiversity, green building, and sustainable food, visitors of all ages will learn how to "be green while saving green." Hands-on and minds-on activities in this exhibit are designed to increase the understanding of how innovative technology and smart design (like solar collectors in paint and composting toilets) along with environmental mindedness (reusable shopping bags) can make a world of difference. Sustainable Solutions will be an inspiration for people of all backgrounds to recognize and celebrate the capacity of an individual to contribute to the sustainability of our planet.

Clothesline Project

Fight violence against women by creating a shirt. We encourage shirts to be made by victims as well as in memory of victims.


LiveWell Fair

Stop by the LiveWell Wellness Fair to visit on and off campus organization representing each of the 7 dimensions of wellness. Collect tickets from each dimension to receive a Wellness Week t-shirt!

“For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf”

When: Thursday, March 1, 7pm
Where: Williams Center Multipurpose Room
In 1974, Ntozake Shange’s choreopoem “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf” made its stage debut, combining poetry, dance and music, and most significantly, placing the black female experience center stage. In lyrical, honest, angry, funny and tender language, Shange’s “colored girls” evoked the feelings woven into the fabric of black female life in America. Within two years, the play became a Broadway sensation, won an Obie and Tony Award, and would eventually be produced in regional theaters throughout the country. Directed by Assistant Professor Emeritus, Mical Whitaker, this play will entertain, inspire, and move you. ADMISSION IS FREE! PROOF OF ATTENDANCE WILL BE PROVIDED


Cinema Series

When: Friday, March 2 7 & 10pm
Where: Russell Union Theater

Showtimes are at 7:00PM & 10:00PM (unless stated otherwise).


Race 2 Break

When: Saturday, March 3 8am

CRI’s Race 2 Break 5K – Is your New Year’s resolution to kick yourself into shape? What better way to do it then training for a 5K. This exhilarating 3.1 mile route through Georgia Southern University’s beautiful and historic campus offers the ultimate solution to your New Year’s resolution. Whether you are a seasoned runner, new to the sport, or just looking for a leisurely walk with your dog, then this race is exactly what you need. Shape up for this Spring Break themed race with bright colors, costumes, and gear.


Women’s Empowerment Conference

When: Saturday, March 3
The conference will be hosted on March 3, 2012. Featuring luncheon keynote, Ntozake Shange, who wrote the inspiring chorepoem entitled, “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.” The conference will address a broad spectrum of topics ranging from identity, networking, leadership, activism, and strategies for spiritual, personal, and professional growth. Registration is $20 ($15 with a college student ID), and will include a continental breakfast, lunch, and access to all sessions. The deadline to register is February 11, 2012.
