  OVERVIEW

The Southern Adventures Center (SAC) serves as the one-stop shop for all your adventure needs.  The SAC is located in the back of the RAC and features a limited number of parking spaces (and a bike rack of course) with access off of Old Register Road.

Our goal is to provide the Georgia Southern Community with the highest quality outdoor equipment and resources available.  At the SAC, you will find detailed information about all Southern Adventures trips, activities, and programs.  Our helpful staff is also available to assist you with all your trip planning needs.  Whether you’re going to Alaska or your own backyard, the SAC has all the gear and resources to get you there and back with no problems.

The Adventures Center hosts a plethora of resources and features available to all RAC members.  Below is a list of some of the services we offer.  However, the best way to find out for yourself is to stop by, look around, and talk with our staff.

  • Big Screen TV: Stop by between classes during our office hours to watch the news or catch a cool adventure video.  (Also don’t forget about our Adventure Movie Series)
  • Resource Library: Our resource library holds over 300 items including guide books, how-to manuals, outdoor education text, books on challenge course facilitation and books on team-building activities.  We also have an extensive collection of maps of the southeastern United States and beyond.  All books are free to check out and are electronically catalogued to help you easily find what you are looking for.
  • Environmental Awareness Program: The SAC hosts a collection of information on current environmental issues and action.  Stop by and see what you can do to help out or post an issue that is close to your heart.
  • Full Service Bike Shop: Can your professor hear you riding to class before you get on campus? Do you put air in your tires before you leave home just to find them flat again when you get out of class? Ever think that it would be great to ride the Willie McTell Trail if only your bike had a gear other than “Rust”?  Well you are in luck.  In addition to our road/touring and mountain bike rental program, the SAC will feature full service and mostly free bicycle repair.  Our trained mechanics will try their best to get your bike riding as good as possible with as short a turn around as practical.  All labor is free, however; any parts that are needed to repair your bike must be supplied by you.  Major repairs and tune-ups may have to be left with us to allow our master mechanics to work on them.
  • Waterproof Maps: Print waterproof topographical maps for any destination in Georgia or Florida. (More Locations Coming!)
  • Student Use Computers:  The SAC has two computers available to aid students in trip planning or just checking their email while they hang out in the Center.
