  PLAYOFF SEEDING SYSTEM

In each League Sport, the number of teams that will advance to the post-season playoffs will be based on the total number of teams and the availability of facilities. Playoff eligibility will be determined by each team's win-loss record. The seedings in the playoffs are determined by each eligible team's rating score. This automated program ranks teams based on winning percentage, total offense, total defense, sportsmanship, and opponent's winning percentage. The rating score is only used to seed teams after they have earned their place in the post-season, as it does not place teams in the playoffs.

For every game, both teams are awarded certain points based on specific variables. The rating score you see next to a team is the total amount of points awarded divided by the number of games played by that team. These variables are games won, points for, points against, opponent's record, and sportsmanship. There is a sliding scale for each of these variables; however "points for" and "points against" will differ for each sport. It is important to note that every team is using the same scale for that sport.

Games Won
Each team will receive 10 points for a win.

Points For
Each team will receive a maximum of 20 points, based on its score in a game. This is a sliding scale, as the higher the score, the more points a team is awarded. For instance, if a team is shut out, it will receive 0 points.

Points Against
Each team will receive a maximum of 20 points, based on its opponent's score. This is a sliding scale, as the lower the score, the more points awarded. For instance, if a team shuts out an opponent, it will receive 20 points.

Opponent's Record
Each team will receive a maximum of 20 points for its opponent's winning percentage. This is a sliding scale, as the better the opponent's winning percentage is, the more points a team is awarded. Also, this is the most theoretical variable because once you beat a 3-0 team, that team is now 3-1, so the dynamic score will change week-to-week.

Sportsmanship Rating
Each team will receive a maximum of 10 points for its sportsmanship rating. This is a sliding scale as the higher the score, the more points a team is awarded. Keep in mind that good sportsmanship can better your seeding in the playoffs while poor sportsmanship can affect your seeding negatively.
