Student Position Title: Facility
Manager– Program Assistant
Position reports to: Facility Coordinator - Staffing,
Facility Coordinator - Reservations |
Description:
The Facility Manager will work evening/peak and weekend hours supervising
managing facilities in conjunction with the Head Supervisor. The Facility
Manager will not directly supervise facility management staff as a general
rule. However, the Facility Manager will have an administrative role
which will enable he/she to step in and take on the role of a staff
administrator when necessary (set-up, take-down, event facilitation,
participant disciplinary concerns). In addition the Facility Manager
will serve as a Set-up CREW Chief for events held at CRI. The Facility
Manager will spend the majority of their time supervising participants
and facilities. While the Facility Manager will spend time supervising
indoor facilities, their primary area of supervision will be CRI outdoor
facilities when in use.
Qualifications include:

Responsibilities include:
- Supervise CRI participants and facilities (indoor and outdoor) during
evening/peak hours

- Serve as a liaison between participants, professional staff and undergraduate

Description:
Facility Supervisors are responsible for ensuring the safe, clean,
dependable, quality, and enjoyable daily operation of Campus Recreation
and Intramurals. The Facility Supervisor serves as a "shift leader"
as he/she is the highest level of student employment within CRI. In
addition the Facility Supervisor will serve as a Set-up CREW Chief for
all events held at CRI. As a Facility Supervisor, the resolution and
mediation of conflict also plays an integral role in the very nature
of the position. The Facility Supervisor manages all aspects of CRI
in the absence of professional staff

Responsibilities include:
- Serve as a liaison between participants, professional staff and undergraduate
student staff

- Perform continuous safety audits of the facility
- Monitor all CRI indoor and outdoor facilities for safety, cleanliness,
and policy adherence

- Supervise all student employees on staff
- Execute RAC/Multiplex fields opening and closing procedures
- Mediation and resolution of conflict between participants and staff
- Record facility statistics hourly - Appropriately document and refer

Student Position Title: Recreation Facility Assistant
Position reports to: Facility Coordinator -
Staffing |
Description:
The Recreation Facility Assistant is responsible for the overall operation of
the Control Access Desk/Front Desk/Welcome Center during facility operating
hours. Recreation Facility Assistant must be highly knowledgeable of all CRI
policies and procedures. The Recreation Assistant will verify membership
through RecTrac Facility Management Software/Biometrics. As a fundamental
duty, the Recreation Facility Assistant will monitor all participants and guests
as they enter and exit the facility. In addition, the Recreation Facility Assistant
will split time at the Control Access Desk/Front Desk/Welcome Center
and the entire building as a roving open recreation assistant. Recreation Facility Assistant
assist in the safety, supervision, and set-up of free play
equipment in all open recreation areas. These areas include the main
gymnasium, auxiliary gymnasium, MAC gymnasiums, racquetball concourse,
and multipurpose room. This position entails having a thorough knowledge
of all program areas, informal recreation areas, set-up, and take down
of free play equipment. As a Recreation Facility Assistant, assertiveness and
customer service play key roles in the overall effectiveness of the
position.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Prior customer service experience
- Prior experience in a recreational setting
- First Aid & CPR certification (CRI will assist with certification
as needed)

Responsibilities include:
- Provide exceptional customer service

Position reports to: Aquatics Director |
Description:
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons including
accident prevention in the water and on surrounding areas. Along with
the rescue and care of accident victims
Responsibilities:
1) Comply with and enforce all CRI policies, procedures and regulations.
2) Present oneself in a professional manner at all times
3) Prevent accidents and minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions
4) Respond quickly to all emergency situations in the water or on surrounding
areas
5) Administer any first aid needed by a victim of an accident
6) Educate patrons and inform them of the purpose and need for rules
and regulations
7) Attend all staff meetings and trainings
8) Complete all records and reports as required
9) Perform other support duties as required

Assistant

Description:
Equipment Assistants’ aid in the daily and extended checkout
process associated with all open recreation checkout equipment. Equipment
Assistants are responsible for the management and update of all equipment
related services including equipment maintenance, CRI towel operation
and locker rental.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Prior customer service experience
- Prior experience in a recreation setting
Responsibilities include:
- Check out daily and extended open recreation checkout equipment utilizing
RecTrac
- Manage the CRI towel operation

our full-time Building Supervisor’s guidance.

Description:
The strength & conditioning staff will be responsible for ensuring
the safety and exercise efficacy of all CRI strength & conditioning
areas through education of proper weight training techniques, proper
fitness equipment use, and enforcement of all CRI policies and procedures,
as well as maintaining cleanliness of all strength & conditioning
areas.

- Provide “spotting” for participants

Description:
The Personal Trainer is responsible for ensuring the safety of his/her
individual clients through exercise program design, proper exercise
technique, detailed education of health/fitness, and enforcement of
CRI policies and procedures.

- Design and instruct a safe and effective group exercise class to meet
the needs of beginner, intermediate, and advanced exercisers.
- Maintain a current library of choreography.
- Attend conferences to maintain CEU’s and expand health/fitness

frisbee, and other activities. Supervisors manage and oversee recreational
facilities in order to provide a safe and enjoyable recreational atmosphere
for intramural participants.
Intramural supervisors work under the direction of the Intramural Graduate
Assistants and/or Program Assistants and the Intramural Sports Director.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily administration of program activities
- Oversee intramural contests and ensure participation takes place in
a safe manner
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of intramural
officials and scorekeepers
- Supervise student staff, including intramural officials and scorekeepers

Student Position Title: Trip
Leader |
Description:
The purpose of the trip leader is to provide participants with quality
adventure based wilderness experiences. The trip leader is responsible
for all aspects related to running a successful adventure trip including
duties before, during, and after the trip. The trip leader is also responsible
actively mentoring assistant trip leaders and apprentices. Adventure
trips may include outdoor pursuits such as backpacking, kayaking, climbing,
caving, canoeing, and cycling.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum- Wilderness First Responder and CPR certifications
- Attended a Southern Adventures Outdoor Leadership Seminar
- Possesses, exhibits, and applies the fundamental philosophical concepts
of outdoor education and experiential learning
- Competent and capable of organizing adventure trips and leading groups
in a manner that exhibits safety, models proper technique, and follows
Southern Adventures’ policies and procedures
- Sufficient experience as an assistant trip leader as determined by

Description:
Web Media assistants will be given an opportunity to apply their classroom skills in a real world application. The position is to assist the Web Media GA in design and maintenance of the Campus Recreation & Intramurals (CRI) site in an ongoing effort to create an effective communication tool between CRI departments and their participants. This is achieved by ensuring updates are made in a timely manner, creating interactive web pages, setting up and accessing online databases, and other programming tasks of various sizes and scopes.
Applicants must have a solid foundation in XHTML and CSS. In addition, applicants should be hard working, enthusiastic, and resourceful sophomores or juniors in Computer Science, Information Systems or Technology, Graphics Design or related fields and have interest or experience in at least one of the following:
- One or more of the following programming languages:
- One ore more of the following software packages:
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/ImageReady)
- Adobe Dreamweaver
Experience with databases (SQL and Access) a plus.

Description:
The Member Services Assistant will be responsible for answering
the telephone and directing phone calls; filing waivers; answering general
CRI questions; processing CRI memberships, Intramural Sports team sign
ups, Fitness Personal Training and Massage Therapy scheduling and other
duties as assigned or as needed.
General Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Motivation, enthusiasm and attention to detail
- Professionalism and willingness to learn
Specific Qualifications:
- Computer Skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel)
- First Aid and CPR required
- Experience operating office equipment (switchboard phone, fax, copiers,
printers)
- Multitasking capability a must
