We suggest creating departmental email accounts for things like Athletic Recruitment, prospective students, conferences, grants, or any long term projects, or use your current general department account, like compctr@georgiasouthern.edu . It is more efficient to have a departmental account, that several people can check (or one person that checks the departmental account and forwards the email to the person responsible for the work) than having the project emails come into a personal email account. Personal accounts are deleted and expired when an employee is terminated. If the departmental account approach is taken, and an employee terminates, we would simply change the password and owner. All the email and archives would stay intact.
University units (departments, colleges, programs) may choose to have a Groupwise e-mail account for their group. The Computer Center requires a faculty/staff member to be the contact person for the departmental account.
