Changing Banner Password

Criteria to use when choosing a new password:

• Password must be a least 6 characters

• Password must be a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters (like !%+-:?_[ ])

• Password must not be a word in the dictionary (like eagles, peaches, zebras, abc123)

• Password must not be a proper name (like jennifer, tom, david)

• Password must not be the same as the username

    
Instructions to change your ORACLE password

with BANNER icon, on your desktop:

Step 1 Click on the BANNER icon, on your desktop

Step 2 At the Banner Menu, type in GUAPSWD and press <Enter>

Step 3 Enter your current password <TAB>

Step 4 Enter the new password <TAB>

Step 5 ReEnter the new password for verification

Step 6 Click on OK to commit changes. The screen will show password has been changed, reconnecting. Click on OK to take you back to the Menu.

Instructions to change your UNIX
password on GUS5

connect to GUS5

login with your Banner login and password (If you do not know your login or password, contact the Computer Center at (912)681-5429, or send e-mail to compctr@georgiasouthern.edu.)

$ passwd
passwd: Changing password for youraccount
Enter existing login password:
New Password:
Confirm New Password:

Please use the new password to log into Banner from now on.

If you forgot or lost your password, contact the Computer Center at (912)478-5429, or send e-mail to compctr@georgiasouthern.edu.

**NOTE** These change instructions are only for your Banner GUI (Oracle) and GSSUN3 Unix password.  This will NOT change the Data Warehouse (HOUSE/SHACK) password on EAGLE5, or the Crystal Enterprise password.
