Financial Accounting is a Department of the Controller’s Division. It consists of three areas of responsibilities; Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Financial Accounting:
Payroll: responsible for processing the University’s payroll and payroll reporting, and works closely with Human Resources for hiring, benefits and retirement.
Accounts Payable: responsible for expediting payment to the University’s customers, employees and students and works closely with Procurement for purchased items.
Financial Accounting: responsible for accumulating and providing reliable and comparable data as to the fiscal affairs of the University within the guidelines established by the University, Board of Regents, State of Georgia and other Federal and State agencies, including the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB). The Financial Accounting Department provides financial and business services to support the overall mission of the Controller’s Division and the overall mission of the University responding to the needs of students, faculty, and staff, by providing efficient and accurate data in order to manage the financial resources available.
